Daruma Designs is a collection of Design Professionals who worked their way through ad agencies and design firms, both big and small, working with large clients. We bring this experience and professionalism to our clients of all sizes. If you have a design problem, we have experience in solving it.
What is a Daruma?
A Daruma is a traditional Japanese Doll, that gives good luck for a Journey. The concept of Journey can be different from person to person. For some it may be a physical journey to a far off place. For others, it may be studying for a test, or starting a new business venture. For us, your project is our journey.
The Daruma doll itself is usually red and depicts a bearded man, it is made of paper maché and is weighted at the bottom, making it a "Rolly Polly Doll". It's ability to pop back up when pushed down represents it's triumph in the face of adversity. When a new Daruma is purchased it has two white spots where it's eyes should be. At the beginning of the journey, one eye, usually the left, is drawn in. At the completion of the journey the second eye is drawn. With both eyes in place the Daruma can look back on what it learned during it's travels.
